Holy Jolie! Those baby names are so…well…normal

You could almost hear the collective groan from reporters and commentators the world over when they learned the names of Angelina Jolie’s twins. Pencils, mine included, were sharpened for stories of outlandish celebrity baby names. OK, Jolie and partner Brad Pitt didn’t go for “Jack and Jill” exactly, but Vivienne Marcheline was remarkably restrained for the bizarre-baby-name age, and Knox Leon was only slightly more whacky.

Nicole Kidman had got people nicely warmed up with “Sunday Rose” for her recently-arrived daughter, who, incidentally, was born on a Monday.
The Daily Telegraph caught the mood with a tongue-in-cheek commentary saying Jolie had “failed the name game”, calling her choices “shockingly conventional.”

Celebrity baby name lists remind us of glories past, for which many of us secretly pine. Remember Princess Tiaamii (daughter of model Jordan and Peter Andre)? Or Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily (Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence) and Jermajesty (Jermaine Jackson and Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza)? Angelina, we deserved better.

Angelina Jolie leaves hospital with new twins

NICE, France (AFP) — Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie checked out of a maternity clinic in the south of France on Saturday a week after giving birth to twins, according to a statement. Jolie, 33, left before dawn on Saturday, avoiding photographers who have been massed outside the Fondation Lenval clinic in Nice. The Oscar-winning American actress and her children Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, a boy and a girl, "were doing perfectly well," said the statement issued by the clinic.

The twins, born last Saturday, brought the number of Jolie's children with 44-year-old American film star Brad Pitt to six.
Dubbed "Brangelina" in the press, Hollywood's golden couple have adopted three children: Maddox, six, born in Cambodia; four-year-old Pax, born in Vietnam; and Zahara, three, born in Ethiopia. Their first biological child, Shiloh, was born May 2006 in Namibia. In May, the pair set up home in a chateau they rented from an American acquaintance in France's southern Provence region.

Angelina Jolie to leave hospital this weekend?

July 17, 2008 (Sawf News) - While there is no definitive word on it, Angelina Jolie will leave Lenval hospital and return home with her newborn twins this weekend, according to current speculation. A spokeswoman for the hospital, Nadine Bauer, told E!online, "After a C-section, the normal stay for a mother in the Lenval hospital is between eight and 10 days." Jolie gave birth to twins Knox Leon.

One reason why her doctor, Michel Sussmann, is in no hurry to release Jolie, though doing so will get rid of the media circus outside the hospital, is because he feels that Jolie will not get the rest she needs to recover completely.
"Angelina has four young and lively children at home, and he suspects the temptation to get up out of bed and play with them will overwhelm her," the source said. "He knows how much she misses the other children, but he feels that she will benefit from a few extra days' rest. They're being very well cared for." Meanwhile, the twins got their first visit from uncle James Haven, Jolie's brother, on Thursday, July 17.

Angie's Tatoos Inspired by Winston Churchill

Actress Angelina Jolie says two of the tattoos she sports in the action thriller Wanted were inspired by late British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. In the film, Jolie, 33, plays an assassin striving to make the world a better place. For her role, she got two temporary tattoos inspired by a speech Churchill made during his first day of office in 1940.

"We tried to focus the tattoos on themes that would be related to this sense of justice," says Jolie. "From Churchill's speech, 'We have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat,' I had 'Toil' and 'Tears' [tattooed on me]."
Jolie has other (permanent) tattoos she has acquired over the years. "I have 'Strength of Will' in one language, and we added it in four other languages on my arm," she says. "'Know Your Rights' is printed in English on the back of my neck, and also in Latin."

For the moment, the Oscar winner is in Lenval Hospital in Nice, France, awaiting the birth of twins with partner Brad Pitt, 44. The entire Jolie-Pitt clan is settled in a sprawling 880-acre, $70 million wine estate the couple has leased for the next three years.
